~ enforcing conformity of goals and values always backfires ~
TL;DR — The Ends do not Justify the Means. A worthy goal can be attempted in a *way* that is horrific and domineering. So, when someone claims “You are required to agree with everything I say, and parrot every word exactly, or I’m going to ruin your life!” that person is being ‘Thought Police’, tyrannical and unjust. Even if they are insisting that you agree with some virtue, Voltaire would cringe! Thought Police are trying to dominate minds, enforce conformity, destroy all alternatives. They are fundamentally opposed to diversity. Welcome to Woke.
I’m not a Karen saying “You’re only allowed to protest if you speak nicely; we’ll give you equality if you don’t shout.” That BS is straight out of the abuser’s playbook. Rather, anger is the correct emotion whenever a person is being oppressed — anger EXISTS to protect us from tyranny! Be angry in the streets until it’s done and dusted! Be angry when it’s awkward; awkward was the shield keeping silence in charge!
AND. Getting someone fired for not toeing the line? Insisting on ‘value-alignment’ as the criteria for even listening to others? Those are tactics. They are NOT beliefs. Those tactics are fascistic and evil. They are Thought Policing. So, the brutal irony is this: Woke will fail if it insists upon doing that same tactic they hate.
Whenever an organization Sanctions Thought-Policing, then that organization will ATTRACT people who SEEK to bully and abuse. They are using Woke as a cover for their desire to attack others. THOSE are the folks to exclude, if you want success. I stand with Voltaire — we need a diversity of perspective, values, goals, beliefs, not just phenotypes. Throw your Value-Alignment and Messaging-Enforcement aside; the ultimate goals are worth too much to sacrifice them before the altar of a despotic tactic.
