There are Ethical, Legal, and Political issues with Stephen Miller’s ICE brown-shirt spree. You are already well aware of those, I hope! I am going on a Side Quest to the Twilight Zone: Stephen is screwing fascism up. He’s bad at it. He’s too incompetent to make the trains run on time. And, worst: it’s EASY to be more ruthlessly efficient than him. He’s a putz.
Let’s run the numbers on a Draconian alternative which is a BETTER fit for Team Steph’s stated Goals:
The Arena
El Salvador likes Trump, so we’ll pick somewhere in there to build. We build a complex of Arenas and Stadiums; a few big Prime-Time spots, surrounded by a fractal of successively smaller-and-more-numerous Low-Tier Matches. We will be scheduling Gladiatorial Fights-to-the-Death every day, 16 hours a day, except Holidays.
When a new recruit arrives, they are given basic needs and medical care, subsidized. Each new recruit carries ‘1 Iota of Blood Money’ on their heads. Once a new recruit makes a kill in the Arena, then they begin earning a regular, weekly dividend into a crypto wallet equal to their OWN iotas of Blood Money, plus all the accumulated iotas of the men they have killed. It’s like Highlander in cash. Yet! There is a 10% discount per ‘tier’, and your weekly dividend begins to see a slow half-life decay as soon as you STOP living and fighting in the Arena. You’re welcome to retire — just save-up and plan ahead for it!
So! With each Iota of Blood Money being worth just $100 per week, then a single Iota earns more than most of Trump’s ‘invasion’ would back at home! Fighters would be encouraged to continue fighting, to prevent the decay of their dividend and to continue adding more iota. They MUST fight again, within a certain number of months, to qualify as ‘still fighting’ — and that time steadily grows between each ‘tier’ of fights, so that they have successively more time to recover and train. Start that deadline-time at 4 weeks for the first fight, 6 weeks for the second fight, steadily growing; MOST of the fighters will be dead in a few months, so their costs are minimal.
Trump’s “Big Butthole Bilk” allocated $75BILLION to ICE, while Soldiers are working without pay. Their stated goal is to deport a Million illegal immigrants with that funding, which is a cost of $75,000 per immigrant. (Why not just hire the immigrants to do that job? They’re cheaper…) Each Arena Gladiator, in contrast, would only cost us a few grand. The lifetime dividend’s *upfront* costs are minimal, and Discounting of Future Returns makes everything cheap, eventually!
Why, Anthony? Why?!
I am appealing to Steph Miller’s own motives and thinking! Stephie, listen, this will get you exactly what you wanted!
First! All of the ‘tired, poor, huddled masses’ who you fear will be DEAD! The thuggiest and poorest, both! That has amazing Positive Externalities: In those peoples’ home countries, the population of young, unemployed men will drop dramatically! And, that scarcity of labor in their own country will drive-up wages, there! Similarly, the winnings of those Gladiators will be spent in their home country, because they won’t want to pay American rent; that will boost their economies even more. Once those remaining young men see that they can actually get a job, and it pays more and more each year, at HOME? They stay with their friends and families, happy that their country is safe and successful! They DON’T want to come HERE, Stephie!
Second! While they are in the Arena, they’ll need LOTS of Medical Care. You don’t need to promise them some expensive drugs and surgery, though — remember, we built the Arena in El Salvador! You get to TEST all the weird, new medical stuff on these Gladiators. What else have they got to lose? Similarly, you offer them EVERY weird, new Performance Enhancing drug and treatment available, to TRY it. They are free Guinea Pigs. You will make $Trillions$ per YEAR from those Medical and Performance Industries, Steph. Steph, do you see how this is actually a money-maker? Your policies cost money.
Third! With all those Gladiatorial Battles, we are NOT just doing ‘same old Roman sideshow’. Nope! Modern weapons kits are on the table, too. Asymmetric, tactical landscapes. Real battle STUDY. Military brass will want to watch some of the best vids. And, we get those Performance Enhancers and Medical Innovations — for our own Team! Our Military doesn’t have to be our Guinea Pig, when immigrants do the work, right Steph?
